08 Primary in VA

Interesting thing I heard today about Virginia's primary. This race is really between only a couple of candidates. Virginia requires candidates to have at least 10,000 signatures to have there name printed on the ballot. Anything above 10,000 only helps build credibility here. Obviously the person who garners the most signatures gains a lot more credibility in the primary here.

With the wide field of candidates, it will be extremely hard for candidates such as Brownback, Tancredo, Paul, Hunter, and Huckabee to get onto the ballot. They just do not have the organization or resources to get this tremendous feat accomplished in VA. That means on Feb. 12, we could possibly see 2 or 3 candidates ONLY on the Republican ballot. If Fred Thompson ever builds any resemblance of an effective organization here(currently he has no organization in VA) perhaps, just perhaps, he will get his name on the ballot. Not being on the ballot here is a big LOSS. The primary here is between Romney and Rudy. They will definitely be on the ballot and the winner of this contest will gain a big boost being that VA is going to be a swing state.

VA has been red in every presidential contest as long as many can remember but over the last couple of years it has been trending towards a toss-up state. VA is a state that will be monitored closely. Romney is the candidate that can win in the Commonwealth.
