ROMNEY LEADS IN S.C.

RCP has poll results here. This is yet another sign of the momentum that Romney is building. It is becoming to be too late for candidates to try and jump into the positions that Romney and Rudy have put themselves into. While Rudy is in a good position nationally, Romney is in a good positions for primaries. Since there is no national election for a year, Rudy is at a big disadvantage. Rudy will most likely lose in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Michigan, and Nevada. Those are the states you need to have strong showings in to continue strongly to get the nomination.

Fred Thompson is possibly the biggest loser in the field. He built up so much anticipation for his candidacy that when he announced it was as if he went and sat on a big whoopy cushion. His campaign has deflated in much the same way. He is not catching on as he should have and is polling poorly as a result. I really wish people would get over the national polls because they bear very little weight in the upcoming elections. The person who is winning nationally in GOP polls right now will not be the nominee and I say that with certainty.

UPDATE:

Take a look at this image from Pollster.com. If you look at all the candidates int he field you see that Romney has been steadily building. McCain really plummeted over time as well as Thompson at about the time of his official announcement.
