Yes, Mitt Is A Mormon

Over the past few days while i have been out getting signatures for Mitt many people have come up to me and told me that they could never support Mitt because he was a Mormon. Also, while driving home yesterday a Democrat(he had a Jim Webb for Senate sticker on his truck) told me I was a Mormon because I supported Mitt while I was sitting at a stop light. After I politely told him that I was not a Mormon he then laughed and made a derogatory remark about Mormons. People are being extremely intolerant of the Mormon issue. This reminds me so much of when JFK ran for President in 1960 and everybody began to freak out because he was Catholic.

People need to realize that Mormons are just like every other peaceable group of people on this planet. They do not offend anyone, they do not have bias's against different races, they do not try to disenfranchise other groups. It is completely ridiculous for people to be scared of Mormons. Can everyone leave religion out of this for a second and just take a look at the issues?

Voters in Fairfax, VA deserve better than to vote for candidates based on where they attend church on Sunday mornings. What really matters is the policies they enact on Sunday afternoon after church!

People need to start being more tolerant of religions. Enough is enough when talking about what religion our candidates are. If a religion preaches killing other people or doing things that are unlawful then yes, that should be something we should be able to say is something that disqualifies someone. The Mormon church practices nothing unlawful or anything offensive to others.

Before the death of Jerry Falwell, he and other leaders of the Christian Right met with Gov. Romeny, and from that meeting, even Jerry stated that, "We, as Americans, are not electing the Minister in Chief, and while he [Jerry] had problems with Mormonism he felt that Mitt Romney was a fine candidate for high office.

This is the first time in American History where we have numerous races, faiths and even both genders seeking the Office of the President. Whether the candidate be black, Mormon or female should have no bearing on their ability to exectute the duties of President.

This is just one more problem with current politics. We care too much about one's faith, rather than the big issues at hand: Social Security, Iraq, Homeland Defense etc... It is time we elect someone who can reach across the aisle and get things done. Mitt has shown that he can do this in MA. Candidates such as Hillary has shown us that she cannot.
