In Iowa on Friday Thompson said to reporters that Bin Laden is more of a symbol than anything else. More of a symbol?????? Well Fred, I must say I am surprised. Bin Laden is in charge of Al Qaeda!!!!! Also Fred said that due process needs to be given to Bin Laden, which is even more surprising due to the fact of what kind of crimes he has committed. There you have it, the so called "conservative" saying that Bin Laden deserves a fair trial! Check out more info here:

I Understand your outrage. I don't think you mean that he doesn't deserve a fair trial. What you mean is that he doesn't deserve the same fair trial given to citizens of the US. He deserves a war criminals trial complete with US military jury of three ranking officers and without any of the encumberances on the gathering and use of evidence that accompanies civil and criminal trials. Isn't that what you really mean? The military will present the evidence, convict him in fairly quick order and sentence him to death. In a civil trial he could languish for years in jail even if convicted and sentenced to death. None of those options will be afforded him should he have a fair military trial. That's what you mena, right? And if so, you may just want to edit your post so you don't sound like you want Bin Laden to have an UNFAIR trial. That's simply goofy. You want him to have a fair trial. You just don't want the circus that would accompany a civil criminal US trial and you don't want the sentence to be appealed ad naseum.
